 Description

When a record is deleted in MARCat storage, we need to be sure that something happens also in SRS and Inventory. Define all possible constraints that we need to consider to delete a bibliographic record.

SRS: delete from SRS as well
Inventory: change the Source from MARC to FOLIO; remove restrictions on editing the Instance fields

FC:
When deleting a MARC record - checking for items on order, or on loan would be a requirement

Comment by Kristin Martin [ 14/Aug/19 ]

Chicago requires more information before ranking. I would think that deletions should be triggered from Inventory and not MarcCat.

Kind of a chicken and egg origins story. So, when will MARCcat be available.

Hi Tiziana Possemato - see my comment in UXPROD-1961 Closed

Hi Charlotte Whitt, I suppose you were referring to your comment on https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UXPROD-1961... Is it correct?

Yes Tiziana Possemato

Some updates, after the ACT meeting of last Wednesday, on 25th of September:

Use case 1
Cataloger is in Inventory and decides to delete an Instance ( UXPROD-1624 Blocked , which is not MVP)
Delete is a risky action, particularly without the change tracker or rollback If the Instance has a MARC source record underneath, can the record be deleted from Inventory? No, need to switch to MARCcat and delete from there.
Make it easy to go between Inventory and MARCcat

  • Might be nice to have an action menu option to move from the Instance to view/edit mode of the MARCcat record
  • Also would be good to have an action to move from MARCcat bib to the Inventory instance, so that I can edit related holdings and items

Use case 2
Cataloger wants to delete a MARC record in MARCcat
Would that delete the SRS also? Yes
Would that delete the Instance? Not sure - what if I just want to disconnect the Instance from the MARC source record?

Hi Tiziana Possemato and Annalisa Di Sabato. Magda Zacharska, what should we do with this feature? We are nearing the Q3 release and I'd like for all the features associated with it to be closed, split or removed from the release. For help splitting features, please see this deck: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ZqA34rfHQxNqM5QuBvD3kY8gLRpdqD5co-cK0vkY2NU/edit Thanks!

As of Jan 2021, development of MARCcat has ceased. Will incorporate some features into quickMARC.
