Charlotte Whitt I am unsure what is needed for development here.  Is this an MM issue for searching for classification only in an item record?  Or, is it a problem that the item record doesn't display "by default" when searching within item data for classification?  Or, is this needed in a non-MM workflow or app?  Thanks for any clarification as we're trying apply points for capacity planning.

Hi Jacquie Samples - for Inventory this has been implemented in the holdings and the item segment in the Search and filter pane. What has not yet been done is the non-MM related apps, e.g.:

  1. Reguest - Brooks Travis
  2. Courses - Kelly Drake
  3. Orders ?? - Dennis Bridges
  4. ... more ??

Jana Freytag and Erin Nettifee might know where this has been raised as a requirement for the circ specific apps.

Thanks Charlotte Whitt, I appreciate the information.  I will leave this one in Duke's RA and RM Implementation Teams' hands then, for the current round of capacity planning.

AFAIK there is very restrictive item search in RA apps - e.g., it only searches by barcode. That's the case for Courses, at least, and Request. Check Out also searches for an item by barcode but that's really part of a checkout transaction with the assumption the item is there in hand. Given that at that level you really need to link to the specific item, I'm not sure that the call number search in Courses or Requests is really a requirement, until https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UXPROD-284 is done. But I'll definitely defer to Kelly Drake, Brooks Travis, Cheryl Malmborg and others.

In terms of whether this ticket needs to remain open to capture those needs, I don't think it does from an RA perspective, as long as searching by call number would be covered in UXPROD-284 Open .

Comment by Kelly Drake [ 18/Mar/21 ]

I agree with Erin Nettifee's assessment that you really need to link to the specific item, I'm not sure that the call number search in Courses or Requests is really a requirement, but that https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UXPROD-284 . is desirable
