 Description

Current situation or problem:
When an item that has 0 open requests and the item status Available is checked in at a service point assigned to its effective location, it is counted as an in-house use.

However, double-discharging may inflate in-house use counts. A user should be able to prevent a check in from counting as an in-house use if they know it is not (e.g., if they are double discharging a cart of books).

In scope

  • Provide some way for a user to indicate scans do not count for in-house use

Out of scope

  • Incorporating shelving lag time as part of the logic determining whether something is in-house use (but see questions below)

Use case(s)

Proposed solution/stories

  • Add checkbox in Check In app - when checked, any scans meeting the definition of in-house use will not be counted as such

Questions

  • Should shelving lag time also affect whether something is counted as in-house use? E.g., if a check in would otherwise qualify as in-house use but occurs during the shelving lag time from the item's most recent check in, that could automatically prevent it being counted as in-house use
    • If desired, should that be in scope here or in another issue?
