Who is the receiver of these notices? Is it the patron requesting or the patron who has checked out the now recalled Item?

Comment by Darcy Branchini [ 19/Mar/19 ]

Theodor Tolstoy (One-Group.se) - Both are possible - a confirmation notice sent to the patron requesting the item and a recall notice sent to the patron who currently has the item checked out (now recalled). It'll depend on how it's configured. Everyone I spoke with needs to the recall notice sent, and it varied by institution whether or not a confirmation notice was needed/wanted.

Darcy Branchini Cate Boerema This is likely a silly question.

Is the correct past tense for cancellation, canceled or cancelled?

LOL Marc Johnson - I googled this a while back, myself. Double L seems to be the British English spelling while single L is the American one. Somehow we are using double L in our US_English translation I assume changing this would be easy to do in the translation file, no?

Comment by Marc Johnson [ 10/May/19 ]

Cate Boerema Darcy Branchini In the UI, it might possible to use translations to address this.

It also exists in code and in API contracts, which is more challenging.

For example, the triggering event for a cancelled request is Request cancellation

I'm not sure those values are translatable at the moment, that would need investigation by a UI developer.

I've also googled this in the past for general knowledge, not specific to this project! I see both here (in the US) and I typically use double L myself. I'm guessing that's how it ended up being double L. Probably not something we need to worry about right now since there are other pressing issues. And perhaps I should ask on the radio show, "A Way with Words"?!

I use double L too! Glad I'm not the only American doing so. I agree, you should put this to A Way with Words
