Do the attachments actually correspond to this JIRA? Does this JIRA refer to MARC validation or something else?
In a ranking review, Chicago would like some clarification about the scope. The documentation attached is nout of sync with the description. Can you please provide some more details?
This Jira is not referring to the MARC validation.
It's about the possibility to apply some rules to check the quality of the record before saving it.
The possibility to have some simply warn with messages, to alert the cataloger in case of some cataloging error (inconsistencies).
For example:
if in the record the tag 008/06= s (that means the date consists of one known single date of distribution, publication...) and the tag 264 $c has not date, saving the record the system will display a message to ask the librarian to check the value of that tag.
The messages displayed in different color indicate a different degree of possible errors.
The cataloger can decide (see the first screentshot) to enable or disable that rule, selecting the related check box.

As of Jan 2021, development of MARCcat has ceased. Will incorporate some features into quickMARC.
