 Description

Current situation or problem:
Once we start to implement print ( UXPROD-1392 Draft ) and/or SMS ( UXPROD-1393 Draft ) options for sending notices, then we'll need to add a configuration settings that allows a library, by tenant, to define which formats they support and which formats that prefer to send a specific notices in. We might also want to include a way for an individual patron to override that setting.

Use case(s)
For example, some universities might want to send notices only via email, or some via email but other via print/postal mail, while other might want to send all notices via SMS. Each format will require different templates. Specific use cases for multiple formats are Die Deutsche Bibliotheken. The send the first couple of overdue notices via email, but then the third (or maybe fifth) notice must be sent via print/postal mail.

Proposed solution/stories

  • Add a setting that allows tenant to define which formats are allowed or supported.
    • Once this is implemented, then it needs to be decided if this controls the Contact Information > Preferred contact select list under the user profile.
  • Add a setting that defines whether a patron can override the preferred format for each notice.

Additional Information

  • See attached mockup (done very early in the project).

If this functionality is not implemented, can we still have a default value for all patron records?

Lisa Sjögren, yes, you can still have a default value for all patron records.

Changing status to Draft since the only story here is still in draft. I'd like to reserve Analysis complete for features where all stories are written and dev-ready
