Estimation Notes and Assumptions: For modal development only, actions that require additional screens are not factored in this.

Backend estimate assumes that these modals are displayed prior to performing a check in or check out in the API, and that all of the relevant item properties already exist.

 Description

Display note from Inventory at Check In or Check Out. (For example, if the patron has been manually billed for the book, convey that information to the staff member checking the book in so they can clear the bill before checkin.)

When note displays, user will have the options to continue checkin or exit (and not checkin the book). Counterpart exists for checkout.

Split from UXPROD-246 Closed as a result of 11/19 Chalmers discussion. UXPROD-246 Closed references https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13jdIOnNJkljNn22Jykbd7bmxYVM2QXmbKtbd1LJuu1E/edit#gid=0.

Hi @ecboettcher :slightly_smiling_face:
I just did a little rework of the UX wireframe for the edit screen of the Item record:

Is the Item check in note / check out note working as you envisioned? See

Cate Boerema Jakub Skoczen Given the recent conversations we had about how a check in / check out could be started and then stopped, and we changed that so that we would limit the interactivity to only presenting information during the selection of items prior to the process being started in the backend.

If this holds for this, then I think this is significantly smaller than we may have thought, and likely UI only once inventory holds the information.

Does that fit with your understanding?

Marc Johnson I believe this is informational only and doesnt block check in. Emma Boettcher would know best.

Comment by Emma Boettcher [ 04/Dec/18 ]

Marc Johnson Cate Boerema The presence of these notes doesn't block checkin outright, but the staff user, upon seeing the information in them, may want to stop the checkin. (Similar to a multipiece item, as in UXPROD-246 Closed ). If I'm understanding the terms Marc's using correctly, it presents information about the items, and then if the user confirms, starts the process.

Emma Boettcher Thank you for interpreting my clunky language. I'm not aware of terminology to distinguish between the various parts of the check in process, in my attempt not to include technical language I likely only added to the challenge.

Emma Boettcher When are check in or check out notes entered (e.g. is this entirely separate to actually checking an item in or out)? Is recording them part of this feature, or only the display of those that exist?

Charlotte Whitt That screen shot looks like these notes are recorded on an item. Are these fields already available? If not, is the scope for creating them part of this feature? If it is, then we likely want Niels Erik Nielsen input on the backend estimate, as the majority of the work is likely in inventory.

Comment by Emma Boettcher [ 18/Dec/18 ]

Marc Johnson Only display of those that already exist. They are added in Inventory, and I believe part of UIIN-254 Closed (linked up to UXPROD-124 Closed ).

Hi Emma Boettcher I moved this to Q2, marked it as q1-2019-spillover and made a note about this in the weekly status report.

Aditya matukumalli, could you please take a look at the estimate on this and update, if needed? Given many of the stories turned out to be 13 points, I wonder if the 3 day estimate isn't too low.

Comment by Aditya matukumalli [ 27/Mar/19 ]

Cate Boerema I re-estimated this.
