 Description

Trigger: an item is marked claim returned. Claims staff are then notified to search for the item. The item is then searched for X number of times (or in some institutions, any number of times over Y months). Each time a search is completed, a notice goes to the patron to inform them the library hasn't found it. If the item is not found during the claims process, claims staff need to be able to either charge the patron for the item or consider it missing within the library. The process may also end if the patron realizes they still have the item or if the item is returned, and the claims staff should also be notified if that's the case.

Workflow Highlights

  • Timers
  • Single Task
  • Paper Driven

Modules Involved

  • Inventory
  • Item Metadata
  • Patron Notification
  • Fee/Fine

Emma Boettcher - One of the workflows we think we want to implement is the "Loan: Claim returned - search & resolution" from the Workflow Candidate Features spreadsheet. Can I set up a time with you, one or two SMEs, and our workflow consultants (Jeremy Warren at BP3) to talk through this? https://doodle.com/poll/bbphwhv5yqe4ice3

I'm a little confused as to why early implementors would be ranking this POC for workflows. The Product Council agreed that we would create a POC for workflows, and this is a precursor to being able to implement workflows in FOLIO.
