 Description

Purpose: Implement the solution defined by the MM-SIG has been to implement the more robust solution for Notes, with a qualifier, Note type (as a reference table - instead of doing a simple large text field for "Notes".

Note:
This is implemented for the Holdings and Item record. We just need to wrap up the work for the Instance record. A very small task.

Out of Scope:

  • bibliographic notes in the container record - UIIN-467 Draft
  • the general Notes feature which Filip has designed - UXPROD-1598 Draft

Charlotte Whitt, does this go beyond what is planned in UXPROD-124 Closed , UXPROD-1106 Closed and UXPROD-123 Closed ?

Hi Cate Boerema - the general implementation of a Note/comment feature in Inventory is moved out of this story.

Re. bibliographic notes in Inventory we have implemented the spec'ed requirements for Holdings ( UIIN-235 Closed ), and Item records ( UIIN-235 Closed ).

In the instance record, we need to refine the notes ( UIIN-452 Closed ) with Note types maintained as a Settings page/reference table ( UIIN-453 Closed ) in order to make the UX align with what has been implemented for bibliographic notes in Holdings and Item records.

Thanks for the clarification, Charlotte Whitt. Maybe you can tweak the summary/title a bit so it's more in line with the current scope (which seems to be just instance record note refinement)

@cate, thanks. Tweaked the title of the jira ticket.

Removing all but the essential features from the Q2 2019 Core Functional team backlog. After we've run the estimates through the cap plan, we may find we can pull in more.

Hi Charlotte Whitt How does this related to the MARC-to-Instance mapping and the various 5xx fields from the MARC record?

Comment by Charlotte Whitt [ 27/Mar/19 ]

Hi Ann-Marie Breaux - it supports it

Please see the list of note types listed in UIIN-452; and UIIN-453 Closed

Comment From the March Meeting : Need to understand how this relates to MARC notes fields. Ann-Marie Breaux checking with Charlotte

Comment by Charlotte Whitt [ 01/Apr/19 ]

Hi Anya and Ann-Marie Breaux,
The list of note types for holdings and item (as for the instance) are editable, so each tenant can tweak the default list.

This specific feature is about aligning the holdings and item notes, and change the instance bibliographic notes to have same UX, using note types.

As I explained to Ann-Marie last week, then the instance notes are aligned with MARC notes fields. Please see following story about Implementation of Settingspage for Note types, instance record: UIIN-461 Closed .

Hi Charlotte Whitt, I saw your comment in UIIN-461 Closed . It looks like you want to try to get this into Q2? As it isn't needed by Chalmers, it likely won't make it, but if you could make it dev-ready/analysis complete, it would be a great candidate if a team has extra bandwidth. The current status says In Progress and it contains links to stories that are complete. Those stories also like to other UXPROD features which they shouldn't. I think you should probably remove those links and only retain the story links that represent the scope of this feature. The status should probably be updated to Draft, as well, since one of the open stories is still in draft. Thanks!

Hi Cate Boerema - I have done the update, and marked all the associated UIIN stories as `mandatory`.
