 Description

his function makes possible to edit an heading (that is, a record access point), for all heading types (such as names, titles, subjects, name-titles, control numbers, classifications etc.). The modification of an heading has en effect on all bibliographic records that make use of this heading. If the heading is also used in an authority record, the edit affects the authority record too.
For Q4 2018, the heading edit is developed 'behind the scenes', without a specific UI function (this is a decision taken by the MARCcat user group)

Based on most recent discussions in the MARCcat subgroup, the modification of "headings" will not affect authority records. The group still needs to establish which headings will be visible to users and how headings should be edited. It should be made clear that if a user edits a field within a bib record that is connected to a heading, the heading should not be affected.--N.Owens (UChicago)

Considering the community decision, currently in MARCcat (starting from a bibliographic record) is not possible to edit an heading.

From bibliographic record, in MARCcat, the cataloger will able to overwrite the heading that already exist in the record. When he types the new heading, the system will do a check behind the scene: if that heading doesn't exist in our index name (it means that no other record has this new heading), it will create a new one. If the heading is already present in the index name (in the db), because other records have this heading, the system will use that heading.
The previous heading (that the cataloger has overwritten) really is not changed. The system has only detached that old heading from your record, to attach a new one.
This behavior is due to the impossibility to work (as it's now in WeCat) directly on the heading, because the community weren't interested to this function (so we didn't do the porting of this function in MARCcat). Usually they don't do any modifications on the heading, because they use headings that come from OCLC or LC, so they are already verified.
