Epic Link: Allow for the creation and management of organization records

 Description

Overview: When viewing an interface on an organization record, the Action menu contains a 'Copy' option. Clicking on this does not produce any action. It seems as if the action is not registered. Reported by Okanagan College (going live 5/28/21) and reproduced in Bugfest Honeysuckle & Bugfest Iris by Molly Driscoll and in Snapshot by Owen Stephens.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Log into https://bugfest-iris.folio.ebsco.com/ as a user with all Organization permissions.
  2. Find an Organization that has an interface associated with it. An example is 1517 THE LEGACY PROJECT
  3. Use the Actions menu to select Edit and access the Organization record in Edit mode.
  4. Scroll to the interfaces and click on an interface to view it.
  5. In the Actions menu, select 'Copy'.

Expected Results: The current interface record is duplicated and opened in edit mode.
Actual Results:  Nothing happens; it appears to action is not registered.
Additional Information: Unsure if this is current expected functionality or a placeholder action for future functionality. If for future, would request the 'Copy' action is greyed out until supported.

hi Ann-Marie Breaux looks like we have an action, but it's not implement, does it make sense to hide it for now to not show smth that does nothing?

Hi Mikita Siadykh Could you keep it displayed, but grey it out and not allow it to be clicked? That's what we've done with some still-to-come options in other apps.

And then we'll plan to close this, and maybe add a draft story for adding the functionality (or link to an existing story, if there is one). cc: Dennis Bridges

Ann-Marie Breaux yep, should it be in R1?

Hi Mikita Siadykh If you could grey it out and make it un-clickable for R1, that would be great, And then we'll have Dennis Bridges decide on priority for implementing the copy functionality. The key thing is making it clear that it's not a bug; it's functionality that has not yet been developed

hiding Copy action for now. According to FOLIO UX guidelines we shouldn't gray out action that can't be enabled in any circumstances. https://ux.folio.org/docs/guidelines/ux-patterns/hiding-vs-disabling-elements-ux-pattern/
