Sprint: stripes-force 137
Development Team: Stripes Force
Release: Lotus (R1 2022) Bug Fix
Potential Workaround: Creating order: Select title for POL, change the "Create inventory" setting to something that does not include Holdings, select your location from the dropdown list, change create inventory setting back to desired setting.

When Receiving: The workaround at point of receipt would be to create the Holdings record you need in inventory manually and then you will be able to select it at point of receipt rather than relying on orders to create that a holdings for the location you desire. This way you avoid the location lookup modal.
Affected Institution:
!!!ALL!!!
RCA Group: Implementation coding issue

 Description

Overview: The location lookup only lets you select between 10 campuses.

Starting with Kiwi, you have to use the location lookup to add new holdings to a POL which creates holdings/items in Inventory. If your library has more than 10 campuses, you cannot use the Orders or Receiving app to create new holdings.

This is an example of the classic issue where a query doesn't have a limit parameter and so defaults to 10. Campus appears to be the only level affected in the location lookup.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create an order
  2. Click New POL
  3. In the POL edit screen: link it to an existing instance in Inventory, set order format to Physical resource and Create inventory to Instance, holding, item.
  4. Click Create new holdings for location to create a brand new holding
  5. In the location lookup that opens, select institution Texas A&M.
  6. In the campus list, select campus "Texas A&M University Health Science Center"

Expected Results:
Campus Texas A&M University Health Science Center displays and can be selected.

Actual Results:
Campus Texas A&M University Health Science Center is not in the list. The list only shows 10 out of 11 campuses. It appears to be the 10 that come first in alphabetical order. The same thing happens if you use the location lookup in the Receiving app.

Hi Dennis Bridges! This is severely affecting the acquisitions workflow for libraries with many campuses.

Support: Any library that has more than 10 cannot work elevating to a p1

Magda Zacharska would this plugin be part of the "Tenant settings" project? I know the locations are added there, but I don't see a project that would represent this permanent location lookup. Maybe Uladislau Samets could confirm? I'm just trying to find out who currently owns this functionality. Thanks!

Dennis Bridges
LocationLookup is part of `stripes-smart-components` project

as it was mentioned it's standard issue with default limit: 10, so someone from Prokopovych (I believe it's right team) can fix and release quickly

Thanks Mikita SiadykhCharlotte Whitt is this something you can help prioritize? cc: Michal Kuklis

Lisa Sjögren just to be clear this is being fixed for Lotus. Do you foresee major issues with libraries needing to wait for lotus for this fix. If so we may need to create another issue for back porting this fix and explore approval for a kiwi hotfix. thx

Thank you everyone for getting to work on this so quickly! Dennis Bridges This is heavily impacting the ordering and receiving process for NUST Library, who are live on FOLIO since January. They have 13 campuses, and an ordering workflow which relies on using the Orders app to create and receive holdings and items.

Deployed to Lotus BF. Please proceed with verification

Test successful in bugfest-lotus

Lisa Sjögren here is a quick workaround for this issue in lotus. I'm hoping they can use this for now when creating orders. However, it does not work if they are having the issue at point of receipt.

The workaround at point of receipt would be to create the Holdings record they need in inventory manually and then select it at point of receipt rather than relying on orders to create that holdings.

Thank you Dennis Bridges. Just to clarify – if this is fixed and tested in Bugfest Lotus, libraries will not need a workaround in Lotus?

Lisa Sjögren

That is correct, this was released in time to be included in the first official build of FOLIO Lotus.

An unlimited number (Ok possibly just up to 1000) of location can now appear in the dropdown.
