Release: Nolana (R3 2022)
Affected Institution:
Cornell
RCA Group: TBD

 Description

Current situation or problem:

The order of the logon options seems to be counterintuitive as well as causes issues with staff with smaller screens.

  • Most institutions use SSO for logging into FOLIO instead of a username and password.
  • On smaller screens, the SSO login may be off the screen and requires staff to scroll to access the button.

Requirements

  • Move the Login via SSO button above the login section.
  • When the SSO button is not present, that the white space it would have occupied be removed. So there is no change for users who would have never seen the SSO button anyway.

Hi Khalilah Gambrell I'm tagging you as I'm not sure who the PO should be for this. Trying to get it on the radar somewhere

Hey Kimie Kester  - the Jira description is proposed by Cornell but we should consider if this is the best way to communicate two ways to login to FOLIO (based on UX patterns). Or if there is another option for us to review and have the community decide.

Hi Khalilah Gambrell Moving the SSO button to the top makes sense to me.

I would just ask that when the SSO button is not present, that the white space it would have occupied be removed. So there is no change for users who would have never seen the SSO button anyway. See attached.

Whom should I assign this ticket for review/verification?

Thanks Priyanka Terala. I reviewed the gif on the PR but can I ask you to post two screenshots of how this button displays when a user is on a smartphone or tablet? I cannot verify on snapshot environments since SSO is enabled.

The fact that login now appears three times on the login screen seems weird to me - does the title need to be where it is? Can we at least put the SSO button under the title? And also are we really sure that "most" libraries are using SSO? Duke is, but I'm not sure that is actually the case across the community.

Also, login is spelled differently across the title and buttons, which doesn't look good.
