 Description

Expand the top navigation bar. Cannot fit many more items. Perhaps shorten some names.

Add a second-level bar at the top. Linking to other important FOLIO spaces.

Add non-obtrusive side-bar navigation. Probably sliding toggleable. Read configurable content from yaml data file.

Now using two nav bars in the top section.

Added doc/#guides sections as topic groups to assist with navigation.

Initial set of topics can later be expanded ( FOLIO-645 Closed ).

Added highlight for "target" anchor ( FOLIO-672 Closed ).

Investigating a custom jekyll theme that uses the common nav bar mentioned in FOLIO-714 Closed , a developer nav bar and left side navigation.

This issue ( FOLIO-646 Closed ) is intended for documenting stuff that we have actually implemented.

I added issue FOLIO-817 Closed for describing your investigation.

I am ready to merge the branch FOLIO-645-arrange-1 (and its build) for dev.folio.org which re-arranges the content and the navigation menus along the lines of FOLIO-645 Closed and FOLIO-817 Closed . I am pleased with the outcome.

After the merge there will be follow-up to adjust some more content, but this major re-structure is now done.

It has server URL re-directs for any important URLs that have changed.

Peter Murray one of those re-directs is the “CLA process” description related to FOLIO-898 Closed . It is currently set to /community/cla-process and will change to /guidelines/cla-process with the merge. The “CLA-Assistant pull request check” should not be afffected, but if there is a documentation link from there, then it should be changed in case the re-direct goes away in the future.

David Crossley: I don't think there are any external links to `/community/cla-process`, so as long as you have accounted for any internal-to-dev.folio.org links, we should be okay.

I love the new "Start" menu item in the menu bar. We should find a way to highlight that using text/graphics on the front page of dev.folio.org. That will help answer a lot of questions surrounding 'where do I start?'

Now deployed this re-arrangement in pull/163

Comment by David Crossley [ 04/Apr/18 ]

The internal links are amended, and i have catered for the various links that now come from our various documentation in GitHub repositories. Our AWS re-direct system is nice.

Yes the Start menu is very useful, as is the other re-arrangement. The home page does need some attention. Now that we are over this hurdle can do that and other tweaks, e.g. the rebranding ( FOLIO-1162 Open ) and the revised top navigation bar ( FOLIO-714 Closed ).
