Craig McNally Hongwei Ji Matt Reno Mark Veksler Anton Emelianov Cate Boerema Holly Mistlebauer Jakub Skoczen Julian Ladisch I will be preparing the 19.1.1 release for mod-inventory-storage which contains
The primary intent of this release is to allow folks (most likely TAMU) to test the upgrade process between Edelweiss and Fameflower, as this will not be addressed by the BugFest process. The above JIRA issues address the unnecessary rebuilding of database indexes in the following circumstances
It will not address index recreation for the upgrade path from 19.1.0 to 19.1.1. I believe the BugFest environment is currently running 19.1.0. As I understand it, that means that upgrading to 19.1.1 (or directly to a future 19.1.x bug fix release) will involve rebuilding all of the indexes and will likely take a considerable amount of time. I wanted to make folks aware of the potential impact of this release as I'm aware it could be challenging. Please let me know (by commenting here) if you have any concerns about this. Jakub Skoczen has offered to talk this through with the capacity planning group in their meeting today, if that could be helpful. Jakub Skoczen Julian Ladisch Please correct me if I have misrepresented anything. |

Thank you for the clear and detailed notification Marc Johnson. If I understand correctly this release is soley to improve the performance of future upgrades. If that's accurate, it seems to me that there might not be an urgent need to get this deployed to bugfest. If it turns out that additional bug fixes are required for inventory storage in the coming days/week(s?), I'm guessing we'll probably want to get those deployed to bugfest and tested. What would the upgrade path look like in that situation? 19.1.0 -> 19.1.2? or would we need to go to 19.1.1 first? In either case the next upgrade will be slow. I think the question becomes when do we want to deal with it... |

Hi Craig McNally and Marc Johnson - yesterday the BugFest testers on day #1 of the BugFest week struggled a lot with performance issues. This is a comment from Jackie Gottlieb (11 hours ago) who tested: Verify search in Inventory. Search on HRIDs in the Instance, Holdings, and Item segment: "I selected Still Waters (monographic component part) in535084. Instance HRID= found it immediately; holdings HRID=about 30 seconds; item HRID= about a minute." CC: Anton Emelianov |

Charlotte Whitt I'm not clear on why you are adding this comment to this release issue. This JIRA is for tracking the release of a module. If there is a performance issue with searching by HRID, a separate bug should be filed for that. |

Sure I'll do that when Jackie Gottlieb is done bugfest testing of:

The release is to improve the performance of both future upgrades and upgrades from Edelweiss to Fameflower.
There would be no need to deploy 19.1.1 first.
Yes, I agree that is the right question. As it happens, the situation has moved on, Julian Ladisch is working on
I was unaware of this when I wrote the first comment, apologies to all. |
