| Description |

Before purchasing the reserved instances for RDS, verify that we want to use the `db.m4` instance family rather than the `db.m5` instance family. The compute characteristics look dramatic (see "Hardware Specifications for All Available DB Instance Classes" in Choosing the DB Instance Class) and the cost differential is less than $1/month/instance. Modifying a DB Instance Running the MySQL Database Engine has instructions on modifying the instance class; it will cause down-time on the database. |

John Malconian and Ian Hardy: Can you eyeball this for me? It seems like if we modify the instance class we can get significant improvement. Purchasing an RDS reserved instance locks us into a cost for a year, so I wanted to look at this change before making the purchase. |
