 Description

Report sent to Atlassian:

Pasting a URL from Firefox into the editor has the editor deleting the URL. The attached screencast uses the "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v" URL – the smallest version of a YouTube URL I could find that reproduces the problem.

  • The problem occurs with Firefox 66.0.3 on MacOS and Windows 10.
  • It also happens on Chrome 74.0.3729.131 (MacOS) and Chrome 74.0.3729.108 (Windows 10).
  • The problem does not occur when editing a page that has unsaved changes; it does occur when editing a page without unsaved changes.

At least two users are having this issue on our site. The issue started a few weeks ago. The site was recently upgraded to 6.15.2, but it is unclear whether the upgrade occurred before or after this problem started.

Heard back from Atlassian support with a request to capture HAR files with collaborative editing turned off and the Confluence site in "safe mode". Have sent the requested debugging file, and will ask around if there are other users seeing the same problem.

Now resolved. Three system apps that were disabled have been re-enabled. John Malconian: I'm going to take the Atlassian engineer's statement as truth that re-enabling these system apps after the software has been updated will not result in the denial-of-service problems we saw last month.

With the above insight, once I *disabled the above add-ons* on my local instance and copied the Youtube Link such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6lK5hlB1nQ(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6lK5hlB1nQ) (must be copied from the Browser URL, I assume it picks up additional metadata it's a URL and not a text string) and pasted into my Confluence page, I could replicate the issue!

As you are currently on Confluence 6.15.2 which has a fix for both the [Confluence Security Advisory - 2019-03-20](https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/confluence-security-advisory-2019-03-20-966660264.html) and [Confluence Security Advisory - 2019-04-17](https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/confluence-security-advisory-2019-04-17-968660855.html), it is safe to re-enable these add-ons that were disabled prior upgrading to 6.15.2.

Can you please try the following:

1. Navigate to *Confluence Administration* ยป *Manage Apps*

  • Change the Combo box filter to *System*
  • Re-enable these add-ons

> * Office Connector plugin
> * WebDAV Plugin
> * Widget Connector

You may need to restart Confluence if the page edit still doesn't work. Let us know if that does the trick and stops the pasted URL disappearing!
