Due date staff slip

Done

Description

Current situation or problem:

The Library of Congress needs a way to distinguish some loans as for internal use only, and some as external. These due date receipts are used by security when allowing people to leave reading rooms or buildings with Library materials. Security inspects the due date receipt and matches it with a staff/Congressional ID.

In scope:

A solution that provides the ability to generate, preview, and print the Due date staff slips for open loan(s).

Out of scope:

Solutions listed in UXPROD-4398

Use cases:

  • As a staff user performing checkout, I need to produce a due date receipt(s) for all items checked out so the patron has a due date receipt(s) to exit the room and, for external users, the building.

  • As a staff user printing due date receipts, I need a preview of the printed receipt(s) so that I can confirm the receipt(s) contains the expected information for the patron and the security guard. [Please see attached internal and external receipt examples for receipt data requirements].

  • As a security guard, I need to view a due date receipt(s) so I can validate the patron’s items in-hand against the date due receipt(s) and which loan privilege is associated with each item.

  • As an administrator, I need the loan due date receipt to be in a template format so that I can modify the data elements and layout of the date due receipt.

Proposed solution:

  1. Add new ‘Due date receipt’ staff slip in circulation settings. The slip should adhere to the existing template structure used for staff slips and contain all current tokens available for staff slips.

  2. Include additional tokens into the staff slip template to capture necessary information about the loan and borrower:

    • Loan due date

    • Borrower first name

    • Borrower last name

    • Borrower middle name

    • Borrower preferred first name

    • Borrower patron group

  3. Provide the ability to print the Due date receipt for open loans on:

    • Open loans page, with the ability to print slip for a single loan or multiple selected loans. Each due date receipt should be printed on a separate sheet of paper.

    • Loan details page. Add functionality to print the due date receipt directly from the loan details page.

Questions:

  • Should reprint be available? Yes!

  • Is there only one date due receipt per sheet? Yes

  • Need to be concerned with congressional loans? Do we need to obfuscate for Congressional patrons? No.

Hi,
For printing spils from Check out user needs to open the Action menu> Loan details page for each loan.

From the User app, the user can re-print due date slips after Check out session has ended (if it was lost or damaged), or print slips for all/selected open loans.

Yes, a bit confusing. The first use case mentions Check out, and of course clicking … > Loan details in Check out redirects to the Users app, yes? So I assumed that’s what was meant by adding to Users app. (Of course, if it’s not going to be accessible from Check out at all, I’d like to know, then I don’t need to worry about documenting it ).

Re: #5 in your list below, that seems like a lot of clicks to get these printed if you just need one or two. I understand not wanting to have triggers to auto-print from the check-out screen, but an action in the ... menu for each loan, perhaps?

That was my original thought, as well, but I think it only refers to the loan details in the Users app.
