Current situation or problem:
Libraries will need the ability to represent their collections as resource descriptions in order to build a comprehensive data graph inclusive of these collections.
Further, we also expect that libraries will need to support multiple cataloging workflows - namely linked data and MARC - for some period of time as libraries migrate their operations to a single linked data-based model.
To support these two objectives, we will need to establish interoperability between the Linked Data Editor and FOLIO SRS.
In scope
Outbound from BIBFRAME
ability to send a MARC record to FOLIO SRS derived from a new resource description created in the Linked Data Editor
for a new resource created in the Linked Data Editor, ability to update the resource with FOLIO identifiers via FOLIO SRS
ability to overlay an existing MARC record in FOLIO SRS derived from an updated resource description in the Linked Data Editor
ability to identify MARC records derived from resource descriptions as source "LINKED_DATA"
Out of scope
Use case(s)
Cataloger creates a new Work and Instance from scratch in the Linked Data Editor
Cataloger creates a new Instance of an existing Work in the Linked Data Editor
Cataloger completes cataloging on a resource that originated as an IBC MARC record
NOTE:
Where there is no existing MARC record already in FOLIO SRS for the newly created Work or Instance, the resource description will need to be updated with FOLIO-generated identifiers
For upgrading an IBC MARC record, replace the MARC IBC record in FOLIO SRS with the MARC record derived from the resource description in the Linked Data Editor

Questions
Discuss use case where cataloger is working off a MARC record in FOLIO SRS that was downloaded externally (e.g. from OCLC) and where the library wants to merge the MARC record derived from the resource description instead of overlaying the MARC record in FOLIO SRS.
