Cannot assign correct location to item because display of locations are limited

Description

Bug reported by Anne L. Highsmith, TAMU.
When assigning locations to the item record, then only the ones starting with A - out of a list of 242 locations (see UIORD-137) - is displayed.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to Inventory, go to any given record with any given holdings data

  2. Create a new item record, try to assign location data by

  3. click on the location dropdown – you will see that only xx locations display; the xy-242 isn't visible

Expected result:
To see and select among all 1-242 locations

Actual result:
Only xx locations display

Other observations: This problem seams similar to e.g. UIIN-321 (limited display of loan types)

, in general, query limits have been lifted to 1,000 across the board so working with 300 locations should not present a problem. I, too, have scripts to simplify creation of locations so if you want to pump a bunch of locations into folio-snapshot or some other public env just let me know.

, - while closing , I noticed that there is a problem with sorting of the Scandinavian special characters. Was that also one of the problems you saw Ann-Marie?

Hi - the sort problem in the drop down select list you identified, is probably the same problem as we have for sort of contributor types - UIIN-264, blocked by MODINVSTOR-149.

Hi, . Thanks for testing 50 locations, that must have been a real pain. But we have over 300 codes – will it handle that many? I'm sure you don't want to create them by hand; I have json for all of our location codes that I could either give you or submit myself if there is external access to the testing server.

Tested in folio-snapshot after creating 50 locations. All show in the dropdown list and the select location option. Sort is a little different between the 2 options (dropdown list vs select location), so I'll file a separate bug for that. Closing this ticket.
