Hi!
I think we just assumed that this was part of the Effective Call Number feature. To me, it doesn't really make sense that the call number displayed on the Holdings accordion should have less complete (holdings) data than the effective call number inherited to the item. If you go to Inventory to find out where a holding (with one or more items) is located in the library, you would not want to have to open the holdings record. Do you agree ?

Has the issue about changing the call number on each holdings record been raised.
not that I know of. It wouldn't really be part of the effective call number feature, anyway, because effective call number is stored at the item and this is data about the holding. We did briefly touch on the call number that displays in the header of the item record. This data comes from the holding. I am not sure if that is confusing or helpful. Might be another topic for the MM SIG.
I don't think either of these topics are in scope for the effective call number feature.

Based on description it sounds like the call number itself is not what Chalmers want, but they want call number and call number suffix to be clearly displayed in the "heading" of the holdings accordion on the instance detailed record:
CC: - maybe something we should review with the MM-SIG too?

is the linked JIRA issue the right one in this context, or should there be another JIRA here?

Steps to reproduce:
1. Find an instance and scroll down to the Holdings accordion
2. Using the information displayed in the "heading" of the holdings accordion, find out the the call number and call number suffix for a particular holding
Expected result:
Call number and call number suffix are clearly displayed in the "heading" of the holdings accordion. (In this case: ta Johansson)
Actual result:
Only the value from the Call number field is displayed. (In this case: ta)
I've always assumed this to be part of the "effective call number" development, but couldn't find a specific issue so wanted to make sure that it's not forgotten and that we can keep track of it at Chalmers, since this is a recurring question/complaint from staff.
